Most Common HVAC Problem
Dirty air filters are the most common HVAC issue we come across. Over time dust and debris collect and clog the filter up. This makes the blower motor on the furnace work harder. Sometimes leading to the furnace overheating and shutting off. A dirty air filter during ac season prevents the proper amount of air flow to cross over the inside portion of the ac. This leads to freezing and compressor wear. The remedy is straight forward: basic non pleated filters block less but provide better airflow, they change every 30-60 days. Middle range pleated filters block more particles and change every 30-60 days. Top tier pleated filters capture large amounts of particles and are recommended to be replaced every 3 months. When using a top tier pleated filter, we recommend a tech or you perform temperature readings and duct pressure readings to ensure it is an ok fit for your system. If you have bad allergies or want over all less particles, dust and hair flowing through the system a 24v electric filter is the way to go. They fit in most existing applications. They boast a 95%-97% capture rate and have all the airflow benefits of a basic filter. Whatever your preference may be a properly timed filter change is the key to longevity, cleanliness and less down time on the equipment. Set an alarm on your phone as a reminder or see if your thermostat has the ability to alert you when it's time for replacement.
